Racial Healing Supper Club

June 4

6–8 pm in Finlator Hall

“Racial healing” is a process that can restore individuals and communities to wholeness, repair the damage caused by racism, and transform societal structures to affirm the inherent values of all people. Racial healing can facilitate trust and build authentic relationships that bridge divides created by real and perceived differences. Before we can transform systems and structures, we must start with people.

Having difficult conversations about racism is the first step in the healing process. And healing from the effects of racism takes more than one day! During regular racial healing sessions, participants acknowledge and discuss past wrongs created by individual and systemic racism, addressing present-day consequences for people, communities, and institutions.

What?

Join the Racial Healing Supper Club! This monthly meeting provides a safe space to tackle the “hard issues.” We begin with a potluck meal and time to socialize, followed by a lively conversation where participants are free to disagree respectfully. We will meet on the first Thursday of each month.

Contributions to the potluck are welcome! Bring a dish, snack, or dessert to share. We’ll provide beverages.

Who can attend?

Anyone who wants to bring people together, cultivate trust, build relationships, and tell the truth. All ethnicities, ages, and backgrounds are welcome.

The Racial Healing Support Club is sponsored by the Pullen Anti-Racism Committee (ARC). For more information, email Maggie Zeillmann. Ready to join us? Click here to register.
