Resonance Worship 2026: An Experience in Story and Song

April 26, 2026

11:00 AM–12:00 PM | Pullen Sanctuary

Each spring, Pullen’s Resonance Choir engages the congregation in a musical service of worship celebrating a specific area of Pullen’s diverse life. This year’s Resonance Worship on Sunday, April 26, will express Pullen’s identity as an “Ever-Embracing, Ever-Becoming” community within the broad and ever-changing sweep of church history.

Enlivened by the Resonance Choir and instrumentalists from the Pullen Orchestra, the congregation will be led by renowned hymn writer Mary Louise Bringle in her hymn festival, “Faithful Journeys: A New Pilgrims’ Progress.” This experience in story and song will also be enhanced by the gifts of guest musicians Michael Hawn and Jaylen Spencer.

Mary Louise “Mel” Bringle is Professor of Religious Studies and Coordinator of the Integrated Studies Major at Brevard College, and in 2025 was honored as the country’s Outstanding Liberal Arts teacher by the Association for General and Liberal Studies. Michael Hawn, University Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Church Music and Director of the Doctor of Pastoral Music Program in Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, is a world music scholar and was formerly Pullen’s Minister of Music. Jaylen Spencer, local vocalist and creative media specialist, is a member of the Deep River Singers, a North Carolina-based vocal ensemble dedicated to the education and preservation of spirituals.

Join us and invite others to participate in Resonance Worship 2026. All are welcome.
