Holy Week at Pullen
The journey of Lent once again brings us to Holy Week. As we follow Jesus closely this week, we find that, in order to fulfill his mission, he must rely on the practices we have been engaging in this Lent: Seeking wilderness, embracing silence, engaging in self-examination, extending compassion, and loving extravagantly.
Palm Sunday, March 29
Worship Service 11:00 am in the Sanctuary
We wave our palms and shout “Hosannas” like those who accompanied Jesus at his triumphal procession into Jerusalem. We imagine what the world could be, if we welcomed the kind of leadership that is marked by humility, and seeks to inaugurate peace and justice without violence. If you would like to join the procession of palms, please gather in front of the Gregg Museum at 10:45 am.
Love Offering for Our Cuba Siblings
After Worship Service
This Sunday, Palm Sunday, we will take up a LOVE OFFERING for our partner church in Matanzas, Cuba. Our friends there are suffering and need our help. Several Pullenites will be traveling to Cuba in April for the ordination of Wanda Hernández Murga. Wanda is the wife of Pastor Orestes. She has been a vital part of the ministries of First Baptist Church, Matanzas for years. Her ordination is an exciting time for the church in midst of these very troubling times. Along with this LOVE offering the Deacons, on behalf of our church, will be sending an official letter of congratulations and affirmation that will be read at Wanda’s ordination.
Ushers will be standing at the doors at the end of service to receive your gift. It is important that you know that the Finance Committee approved this request.

Maundy Thursday, April 2
5:30pm Meal in Finlator
6:30pm Service in the Chapel Sanctuary
Before facing the worst day of his life, Jesus chooses to share a final meal with those he loved. He washes his disciples feet as an expression of this love, and admonishes them to love and serve one another. As we share a simple meal at 5:30 pm in Finlator Hall, followed by a service of communion at 6:30 pm in Poteat Chapel, we remember that being in a loving community helps us to get through hard times.
Good Friday, April 3
10am - 2pm in Poteat Chapel
Jesus’ willingness to endure the wilderness of the cross assures us that God does not run from human suffering, but rather, meets us in the midst of it . Poteat Chapel will be open from 10 am–2 pm. As you walk the labyrinth, you might consider what it would be like to invite God to accompany you in the painful places in your life.
Resurrection Sunday, April 5
Baptism 9am in Finlator Hall
Service 11am in the Sanctuary
As sightings of the resurrected Christ turn the disciples’ grief into wonder, we, too, turn our attention from the death-dealing systems of our world to the places where God’s Spirit is raising up new life and new energy, turning the world toward justice-love.
At 9 am, we will celebrate new life through the waters of baptism, we will not have any Adult Sunday Groups during this time.
At 11 am, we will ring our bells at the sound of our alleluias to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus, and inaugurate resurrection in our own time.
