Experience the Joys of Communal Music-Making!

The Pullen Music Ministry offers a variety of opportunities for Pullenites of all ages to experience the joys of communal music-making. Music Ministry groups and their rehearsal schedules are listed below. All are welcome to participate!

 

Perpetual Groups (rehearse consistently throughout most of the year)

 

Worship Choir (Youth and Adults)

Sunday Rehearsals

10:15 am in Room 203

This choir enlivens congregational singing and offers accessible music for worship. This choir also leads worship on Christmas Eve. There are no prerequisites or prior rehearsals needed.

 

Pullen Orchestra (Youth and Adults)

Sunday Rehearsals: September 21May 17

8:45–9:30 in the Sanctuary

The Pullen Orchestra consists of instrumentalists who play wind, string, or percussion instruments at an intermediate level or beyond. During the year, this group offers music for worship; performs at Pullen’s annual Sunday in the Park; combines with the Caroling Christmas Choir to present music for a local retirement center; and combines with the Resonance Choir for a service of music.

 

Music Friends (K–Grade 2)

Sundays, October 12, 19; November 16, 23

9:30 am in Room 123

Younger children participate in this group that is integrated with Sunday Groups for Kids. Age-focused activities instill the joy of music-making and explore Sunday Group themes.

 

Children’s Choir (Grades 3-5)

Sunday Rehearsals: October 12, 19; November 16, 23

9:30 am in Room 122

Older children participate in this choir that is integrated with Pullen Kids Sunday Groups. With a multisensory approach, children explore Sunday Group themes, grow as musicians, and offer music for worship. On Sunday, December 7, the Children’s Choir will combine with Raleigh Youth Choir’s Oak Choir to offer music for worship.

Caroling Christmas Choir (Youth and Adults)

Wednesday Rehearsals: October 15, 22, 29; November 5, 12, 19; December 3, 10

7:30–8:30 pm in Room 203

This choir joins the Pullen Orchestra in preparing music for Pullen’s third Caroling Christmas Service, following the annual Christmas Breakfast. This group will also join the Pullen Orchestra in presenting music at a local retirement community on December 7.

Adult Festival Choir (Adults)

Wednesday Rehearsals: January 7, 14, 21, 28

7:30–8:30 pm in Room 203

This choir prepares music for the Adult Choir “Festival by the Sea,” in Charleston, SC, February 6–7, 2026. Pullen participates with other regional churches to provide choral music led by nationally-known conductors. Participants who are unable to attend the festival are also invited to sing in this choir, as the festival repertoire is used in worship at Pullen. Those attending the Charleston festival should register via Realm.

 

Youth Festival Choir (Grades 6-12)

Wednesday Rehearsals: January 7—March 4

6–6:30 pm in Room 203

This choir prepares music for the Youth Choir "Festival by the Sea" in Myrtle Beach, SC, March 6–8, 2026. Pullen partners with other regional churches to provide choral music led by nationally-known conductors. Participants who are unable to attend the festival are invited to sing in this choir, as the festival repertoire is used in worship at Pullen. Those attending the Myrtle Beach festival should register via Realm.

 

Resonance Choir (Youth and Adults)

Wednesday Rehearsals: March 11, 18, 25; April 8, 15, 22

7:30–8:30 pm in Room 203

This choir prepares a service of music for Sunday, April 26, 2026. The Resonance Choir will lead a celebration of the ever-becoming nature of Pullen’s diverse life and ministries.
