Bearing Witness: Interfaith Service and Vigil
August 18
6.30 - 8.30 pm in the Sanctuary
For twenty years, North Carolina has gone without an execution. On the anniversary of the state's last execution, the NC Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty invites you to join an interfaith service and candlelight vigil.
Together, we will bear witness to the lives taken, to those still living under a sentence of death, and to a future in which our state is free from capital punishment. Rooted in the belief that every person has inherent dignity and worth, this gathering welcomes people of all faiths and no faith tradition. We hope you will join us.
The evening will include music, interfaith prayer and ritual, a one-mile candlelight procession to Central Prison, and a vigil honoring those executed by the state and those on death row today.
All are welcome to participate in this evening of reflection, prayer, and public witness.
