2025 Advent
Majesty in the Margins
We often find the most precious gifts in places we never thought to look. Every year, our faith story points us back to this reality as we discover the Christ-child again in the last place anyone would have expected — in a manger, inside a barn, in occupied Palestine, in a community on the margins. Could it be that the spirit of this season might not be found in a package under the tree, a meticulously-planned holiday party, or even a candlelit sanctuary, but, rather, in places we don’t think to look?
This Advent, we await God's appearing by turning our attention to the margins. We’ll consider where hope, peace, joy, and love are springing forth among the immigrant, the incarcerated, and the unhoused; in war-torn regions and in places of environmental devastation. As we center those who have been siloed and silenced, may “the glory of the Lord be revealed, and [may] all flesh see it together (Isaiah 40:5).”
This year, the youth will lead a Prelude worship service at 4:30 pm to prepare us for the annual Christmas Eve Service at 5 pm.
