Six Ways to Support Democracy

From your Community Outreach Coordinator:

As the election season approaches, here are six opportunities to be involved with supporting democracy:

  1. On October 15th at 8am, join Pastor Nancy and the Poor People’s Campaign for a March to the Polls at Fulfilled Promise Tabernacle, 320 Bledsoe Avenue, Raleigh 27601. They will march to John Chavis Memorial Park.

  2. If you aren’t inclined to wake up early, there will also be an 11:30am march on that same day (October 15th) from West Raleigh Presbyterian Church’s Courtyard, 27 Horne Street, NCSU Western Boulevard Business Services, 1220 Varsity Drive (near McKimmon Center on Gorman St.). The walk will be nearly two miles, so those who aren’t up for that can meet the walkers at the back of the Business Services parking lot, near Gorman St. There is a small parking lot at WRPC but car pooling is encouraged as parking near NCSU campus is quite limited. They will march rain or shine.

  3. Are you an attorney, enrolled in law school, or working as a paralegal? Are you interested in using your legal skills to assist everyday voters in the upcoming 2026 Midterm Elections? If so, you may be eligible to volunteer for NC’s Election Protection Hotline. Sign up here: https://action.democracync.org/a/hotline-vol.

  4. Not an attorney but still want to help at the polls? You may be eligible to volunteer for the Chill Team. Chill Team Volunteers are deployed to election sites in response to reports of voter intimidation, harassment, and other threats. They work in partnership with the 888-OUR-VOTE hotline and trusted partners on the ground. Training includes election rules, de-escalation skills & review of common scenarios. Fill out their interest form here: https://chillteam.ripple-vms.com/signup?code=ChillTeam2026.

  5. You may also consider being a Poll Chaplain and attending the 10/15 training session at 7:30pm online. Register at https://www.turnoutsunday.com/. Contact Lynn Lyle for questions.

  6. Finally, Consider joining Pastor Chalice at an Election Night Vote Vigil hosted by Siembra NC and Make North Carolina Work on November 3, 7:30pm. Register for the Raleigh event at bit.ly/votevigil

We invite you to participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable, and encourage you to Vote!
