Tree Care Happening Around Pullen
Over the next few weeks, you may notice tree care activity around the church. Here are some details:
As part of the routine landscaping/grounds maintenance processes at NCSU, multiple arborists have determined that one of the two large oak trees on the Gregg Museum property (near our church building) is diseased and dying, at a stage beyond saving. For safety reasons, the university has decided to remove this tree — the one closest to Hillsborough Street overhanging the Gregg Museum parking lot.
The second large oak tree beside Pullen, located a little further back from Hillsborough Street, has significant dead and diseased wood in its upper canopy. To ensure both safety and the long-term health of the tree, the university will be trimming it to remove the dead wood and rebalance the canopy. Additional tree trimming and removals will be conducted on the Gregg Museum property, as part of this broader maintenance effort.
Pullen’s Building and Grounds Committee and staff maintain a positive relationship with the Gregg Museum and have had extensive conversations with them about the process of assessing the health of the trees and their plans for removal and pruning. We don’t expect the impending tree care work to have any immediate impact on Pullen’s operations or members’ use of our campus.
