Parking Update
Old habits need to change, or your car may be towed. After years of construction, The HUB Raleigh welcomed its first residents to a new home right beside our church campus a few weeks ago. The influx of 2,500 new neighbors has a major impact on our corner of Raleigh at the intersection of Hillsborough and Cox. One of the new challenges has been increased traffic — both vehicle and pedestrian — along with an increased demand for parking. This is not just true for our church, but also for The Gregg Museum, the Alexander YMCA, and numerous other nearby businesses. As of right now, church members are NOT allowed to park at either of the Preiss office buildings across the street from us, even on Sundays. This is a change from a decades long understanding that church members and visitors could park at these buildings on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Several church members have had their cars towed, or nearly towed. Nancy and David are reaching out to our neighbors regularly and are engaged in conversations with the YMCA, Gregg Museum, City of Raleigh and Preiss to explore options for supporting one another and sharing parking. We will keep you up to date on any changes as we learn about them.
In the meantime, please know that on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights the best place to park is in our own parking lot around our office building at 112 Cox Avenue, or in the main church parking adjacent to Finlator Hall for those who need closer access. We are also allowed to park at The Gregg Museum, right beside our church building, on Sunday mornings while the museum is closed. Additionally, just on the other side of The Gregg Museum, there is abundant parking at the Pullen Arts Center and Theater in the Park, which is currently free and open to the public after 5PM on weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday. If you are visiting the church during the week, parking is limited to our main church parking lot. The lower parking lot at 112 Cox Avenue is reserved for our tenants and mission partners, with the exception of Wednesday nights after 5PM and Sundays. If you park in a tenant’s spot outside of these times, they may have your car towed.
Our church staff and volunteers are working hard to maintain our own parking lot and keep it accessible. We are also exploring other options for increased flexibility in the future. In the meantime, please be aware that all of our neighbors are also enforcing strict parking rules, and you may be towed if you park in areas other than those named above.
We do not want parking or mobility access to ever be a reason that someone doesn’t join us at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church. If you need assistance getting to church, please contact Pastor Nancy Petty or Associate Pastor Chalice Overy to arrange for assistance. If you need help finding parking on Sunday morning, pull up to the main entrance in our parking lot and one of the volunteers will help you into the building and park your car in a safe place for you.
