Making Connections with Foyers
Sign-up deadline: September 13
"Foyer" is a French word meaning “hearth” or “fireside” — suggesting a group that is relaxed, receptive, and open to others. At Pullen, foyers are small gatherings of people around a simple meal prepared by the host. Members agree to meet once in each household, about once a month or two.
We can only learn so much about someone in passing, after a worship service, or at a church meeting. But sharing a meal together allows us to go deeper. People have often said that participating in foyers made them feel more connected in our community, and they provided opportunities to develop organic relationships of caring and mutual support.
Here are comments from some of the past year’s participants:
"This was a wonderful foyer group and I came away feeling I had made some lasting friends." -Linda Silber
"Our Foyer was fantastic! It reinforced how busy our lives are, but we persevered and finally met in each representative home! We engaged in wonderful conversations about individual interests, shared anxieties, and personal loss. We laughed loudly and sighed deeply. Best of all, we created a new, stronger community that will show up for one another when there is a need." -Lynn & Jim Jarrard
"We had a fabulous foyer experience." –Dana Hollywood
"Foyers are a way to get to know Pullen people in a deeper way." -Deb Norton
If you are interested in signing up for foyers for 2026–2027, please complete this form. The deadline for submitting the form is September 13. Assignments will be made by September 30.
