Film Screening: My Name is Pauli Murray

đź“… September 12
🕖 7:00–9:30 pm
📍 Finlator Hall

In a time when so much of our history risks being forgotten, we gather to remember and honor a local hero: Pauli Murray.

Pauli Murray was a trailblazing activist, lawyer, poet, priest, and prophet whose work continues to shape movements for justice today. Murray fought tirelessly against both Jim Crow and Jane Crow, challenged systems of inequality in courts and classrooms, and broke barriers as the first Black woman ordained in the Episcopal Church. Murray’s writings and reflections on gender identity have also made them an influential historical figure in the trans rights movement.

On Thursday, September 12, join us for a screening of the documentary My Name is Pauli Murray, which brings Murray’s extraordinary story to life.

Following the film, we will host a conversation with Rev. Racquel Gill, a board member of the Pauli Murray Center in Durham and Theologian in Residence at the Resource Center for Women in Ministry in the South. Rev. Gill will guide us in reflecting on Murray’s legacy and its call to us today.

✨ This event is free and open to all.
Please RSVP here.

Come be inspired by the story of Pauli Murray—a life lived with courage, conviction, and a vision of justice that still challenges and sustains us.
