Communion with the Wild
December 7
2–4 pm at Schenck Memorial Forest (Reedy Creek Road, Raleigh)
The Earth Ministry Group invites you to participate in our next “Communion with the Wild.” This event was started by a predominantly Christian-based group from Pullen Earth Ministry. It offers a monthly opportunity to rest and revive one's spirit and connection with the Divine through community and contemplative practices in nature. Our inspiration comes from wisdom teachings, including Christian, Indigenous peoples, Buddhist, and other Abrahamic faith traditions.
The format is simple. We begin by becoming aware of the changing tapestry in the ecosystem that surrounds us. We follow this with meditation, song, and sacred readings, which take us into the heart. This process prepares us for the thirty-minute contemplative solo wander through the forest, reconvening as a group to share our experience (only if desired), and ending with prayer.
If you plan to attend:
See the directions here. We will gather at the shelter (there’s only one).
Bring a portable camping chair, sturdy shoes, a bottle of water, layered clothing, walking sticks, and an offering to the land (poem, song, tobacco, anything that reflects gratitude).
Arrive by 1:45 pm.
If you have questions, please contact Karen Delahunty.
