Pledge and Donate Online

Please consider prayerfully and thoughtfully your pledge for 2024, and send the pledge card to the church at 1801 Hillsborough St. Raleigh, NC 27605 or make your pledge online using the link below. Together we can continue to be the faithful church we have so long been and will long be.

Why we pledge

Pledging is one opportunity to live out our call, as people of faith, to live generously. It embodies the teachings of Jesus to share our money for the common good of all people. Pledging to Pullen’s budget is also a way to support the mission and ministry of this church. We cannot do the things we do within our walls or outside our walls without financial support. By pledging, you allow us to plan responsibly so that Pullen’s long-standing tradition of being a church dedicated to social justice and radical welcome continues.

By making a pledge, you help keep the lights on, the doors open and the programs and ministries functioning. By making a pledge, you feed the hungry, give the thirsty a drink of water and welcome the stranger. By making a pledge, you help provide a safe place of belonging for our children, youth and for yourself.

We need everyone to make a pledge because every pledge counts. It is not the dollar amount that matters. It is your participation!

 Dear Pullenites:

As we and the rest of the world move out of the pandemic years, we are grateful for your continued support and generosity in funding the mission of Pullen Memorial Baptist Church. This past year, we have been able to reinstate much of our programming for adults and children, and are once again sending Pullenites to other countries to build and foster relationships with others in the world.

The Finance Committee asked Councils and Committees to submit relatively flat budgets this year, and that is mostly what happened. In the attached recommended 2024 budget, you will see an overall increase of $75,552 or 6.2 percent. This is largely due to increasing the Building and Grounds budget by about $44,000 for preventive maintenance, repairs, and capital reserves and increasing utilities costs by $6,600. Additionally, we needed to take out a loan to pay for the new chiller, so the interest and principal on that, about $17,000 a year, is an added cost in next year’s recommended budget. Finally, the budget also includes a recommended 2.5 percent cost-of-living adjustment for staff (4 percent for our custodian).

We have some new plans in the works regarding stewardship and raising funds for the budget.

Senior Pastor Nancy Petty has formed a Development Team of eight people to brainstorm ideas about pledging the budget and promote financial stability of the church. One recommendation is to establish a standing Stewardship Committee, which we are pursuing with the Coordinating Council.

For this year’s recommended budget, we will be using the theme of “Out of our Fullness: Generosity upon Generosity.” Several focuses will be scheduled during worship in October, November, and December.  In a season of giving and generosity, it feels important to hold our church’s financial needs before the congregation. It is imperative that we do all we can to pledge this budget early so we have a plan in place for the new year.

The Congregational Meeting to adopt the budget will be held Sunday, October 15, following worship, so please take time to read the attached budget and highlights document. Harvest Sunday will be October 29. If you’d like to make your pledge now, cards will be available at church, or you may pledge online through Realm or by calling or emailing Church Administrator Vicky Bass at (919) 828-0897 or churchadmin@pullen.org. More specific information about the process and steps required to use Realm will be provided on or before October 29.

Thank you for all you do for Pullen. It is because of you that we are able to fight racial inequality, support our children, youth, and adults in faith formation, stand with the LGBTQIA+ community, and feed those experiencing homelessness, among many other causes. These are very challenging times in our country, and progressive faith communities such as ours will be called on to fight even harder for those without a voice. Thank you for your generosity in helping us stay focused on our mission and Pullen’s long legacy here at home and abroad.
