Mark your calendar for the September 19th Peace Festival. Peace Week will begin with a Peace Festival to be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on September 19th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Local peace and justice groups will display their information and be available to talk with people. Workshops will be offered and there will be activities for children. Fair trade items will be available for sale.

This past Sunday marked Pullen’s annual focus on peacemaking in our worship service. The Call to Worship involved a litany of convictions and affirmations shared by three members of our church’s Peace & Justice Mission Group. Several people have asked for a copy, so we are sharing it here.
Fifty million people in America and one-in-four children don’t know where their next meal is coming from — despite our having the means to provide nutritious, affordable food for all. After worship Sunday, July 21, join us for lunch and the film “A Place at the Table” about hunger in America and what we can do about it. In this 80-minute documentary, actor Jeff Bridges and others describe how we can feed our nation’s hungry people if we have the will to do so. Reservations are not required.
Stop Hunger Now has the mission of ending global hunger in our lifetime. On the second Wednesday of July, Pullenites will help further this goal by packing 10,000 meals to share with the people who need it most. Be a part of this exciting effort of compassion and justice. [Read more…]
