The Coordinating Council warmly invites all members and others to a business meeting of Pullen Memorial Baptist Church at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 9, in Finlator Hall. Childcare will be provided. This is one of three regularly-scheduled business meetings in the year, as outlined in our Constitution.
The following motions will be presented for votes:
- Pullen was blessed in 2013, finishing the year with $23,981.70 in surplus funds. The Finance Committee moves that the church tithe 10% of this surplus ($2,398) to be disbursed by the Missions & Outreach Council outside of the 2014 operating budget. A portion of the remaining funds may be used as income for the 2014 operating budget, such portion not to exceed $15,000 and to be determined by the Finance Committee based on pledges as of February 9, 2014. The remaining surplus shall be held in reserve.
- The Deacon Council, with the support of the Missions & Outreach Council, moves that Pullen be included as a coalition partner of HKonJ (Historic Thousands on Jones Street).
- The Deacon Council moves that Pullen Memorial Baptist Church adopt the Five-Year Vision for Pullen Memorial Baptist Church.
NOTE: The most recent draft of the Five-Year Vision Plan may be reviewed online at www.pullen.org/vision. Hard copies will also be at the meeting.
The topics of the motions listed above were presented as discussion items at the October 2013 or November 2013 business meetings. Voting on these motions is restricted to Pullen members only.
The following discussion item will be presented.
- Church Administrator Position – The Personnel Committee will lead a discussion on the status and structure of the Church Administrator position, specifically on the issues of whether a Pullen member should be allowed to apply for and occupy this position, and if this position should be reclassified as ‘non-elected.’
NOTE: This will be the second opportunity to discuss these matters. The first offering will be held as a Wednesday Night program on February 5. As this is a discussion item, no motion can be made, and no vote can be taken, regarding adoption of a position on either of these issues during this business meeting. Prior to this discussion, please review the report compiled by the Personnel Committee on the history of the Church Administrator job at: www.pullen.org/admin.
As with all regularly-scheduled business meetings, other items may be brought forward for discussion but not for voting at this meeting. We look forward to your presence and participation on Sunday, February 9 at 2:00 PM in Finlator Hall.
