Mother, Father, Sister, Brother
Inside. Outside and round about.
Remind us that you are with us when we wander and when we are in wonder.
Whisper, sing and shout,
Call us out of church doors and onto streets and into shanties and behind the alley way and through the hollers and beyond all these boundaries.
Compel us to walk and work with all the strangers and the put-asides and the down-and-out and the all-but-able and the never-tired and the never-wrong-and-always-right and the never-right-and-the-always-wrong.
Help us to see that we are all the sinner and the saint and all those half-way in between and that we are all just longing to be welcomed in and supped with and rejoiced all about.
Draw us into compassion. Love. Justice. Peace. Comfort us like great, great grandma in the kitchen, making biscuits and gravy, swaying back and forth, looking out the kitchen window and into the garden, humming, “hmmmm, honey, we got work to do.”
Send us inward. outward and round about.
Prayer offered by Brian Crisp during worship at Pullen on Sunday, September 29.
